11,900 Frontline Personnel Receive Sumbangsih Raya Packs
KUCHING: A total of 11,900 personnel from uniformed bodies and enforcement agencies in Sarawak will receive the 2026 Sumbangsih Raya Food Packs as a gesture of appreciation from the Sarawak Government for their sacrifice in continuing to serve during the festive season.
Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the Sumbangsih programme is a manifestation of the government's appreciation to security and enforcement personnel who remain committed to their duties in safeguarding Sarawak’s sovereignty, security and peace despite being away from their families during Hari Raya.
According to her, this year’s Sumbangsih packs were prepared after taking into account suggestions from representatives of the recipient agencies during earlier planning meetings, including the provision of ready-to-eat food to ease personnel on duty.
"In total, six types of products are provided, namely ready-to-eat food packs, instant noodles, chips, nuts, three-in-one coffee drinks and three-in-one tea drinks," she said.
She said this when speaking at the Symbolic Handover Ceremony of 2026 Sumbangsih Raya officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi on Friday.
Dato Sri Fatimah added that the food packs were distributed to 11 security and enforcement agencies, including the Malaysian Armed Forces (4,000 packs), Royal Malaysian Police (2,400 packs), and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (1,050 packs).
Additionally, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department received 1,550 packs, Malaysian Prison Department (450 packs), Malaysian Immigration Department (550 packs), Royal Malaysian Customs Department (750 packs), Malaysian Road Transport Department (550 packs), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (250 packs), Malaysian Volunteers Corps Department (250 packs) and the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (100 packs).
She reiterated that the contributions symbolise the Sarawak Government’s sincere appreciation for personnel who continue to carry out their duties in ensuring public safety.
“As they must be apart from their children and loved ones during the festive season, those on duty will feel the sacrifice while those left behind will feel the longing. Yet such sacrifices must be accepted for the sake of a beloved, sovereign and independent nation,” she added. -UKASnews
