KPWK Frontliners Urged To Understand All Ministry Initiatives
KUCHING: Frontline staff of the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) Sarawak have been urged to increase their level of awareness and understanding of all ministry initiatives to ensure that every form of assistance and service can be delivered more effectively to the community.
Sarawak Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, said that staff in every department must be more knowledgeable about the assistance provided, including those outside their specific fields, as long as they fall under the ministry's initiatives.
"Frontline staff need to have broad knowledge regarding the services provided because the public who come will pose various questions, not just related to matters under a specific section.
"Therefore, personnel must be prepared to answer every question asked. At the very least, they should know which party or division should be referred to if the matter is outside their scope," she said.
She said this during the KPWK Townhall session at PUSTAKA Sarawak here on Wednesday.
She further explained that staff should not simply state they are unaware of a matter managed by another section, leading to inefficient and ineffective service delivery to the public.
Elaborating further, Dato Sri Fatimah emphasised that frontline assistance is vital, especially during the ministry's transition toward digital services, which to some extent makes it difficult for clients—particularly those living in rural areas and senior citizens—to gain full access to KPWK initiatives.
"There is still a small, or perhaps even a significant, group among those who face issues in terms of applications, such as online ones, for the various services we provide, and we truly need to be there to help them," she added.
During the event, she also presented aid to eight eligible recipients, including the Postnatal Care Assistance, Medical Assistance, Sarawak Women Heads of Household, and the Sarawak Women's Empowerment Model Grant.
Also present were the Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak Datuk Rosey Yunus, Director of the Sarawak Women and Family Department Salmah Jobeli, Deputy Permanent Secretary of KPWK Kathreen Lalai Eddie Saga, and Deputy Director of the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKM) Norhayati Abdul Rahman. - UKASnews
