10 Mosques & Surau Receive Contributions At UNIMAS Iftar Perdana
KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 10 mosques and surau around Kuching, Asajaya and Simunjan received contributions from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and members of its university community during the 2026 UNIMAS Iftar Perdana event held at the Tun Abang Salahuddin Islamic Centre (PITAS) on Thursday.
The contributions were presented by Sarawak Governor and UNIMAS Chancellor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar along with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi to representatives of the mosques and surau.
Among the recipients were Masjid Darul Ehsan Kampung Belong Asajaya, Masjid Darul Abidin Kampung Tanjung Bako Kuching, Surau Nahdatul Darul Salam Kampung Sungai BA, Surau Darul Iman Kampung Terasi Ulu and Surau Darul Iman Kampung Hulu Tungkah Melayu Simunjan.
Also receiving contributions were Surau Al-Hidayah Kampung Plaie, Surau Darur Rahman RPR Batu Kawa Fasa 4, Surau Nur Iman RPR Taman Sri Permai Landeh, Surau Darul Falah Kampung Semariang Fasa 3 and Surau Darul Taqwa Kampung Bintawa Ulu.
The event was also enlivened with the recitation of Quranic verses by a qari and a performance by the Qasidah group Ahbab El-Habeeb before continuing with congregational prayers.
Also present were Chairman of the UNIMAS Board of Directors Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie, UNIMAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit and his wife Professor Dr Ramlah Zainudin, members of the University Board of Directors (LPU), Deputy Vice Chancellors, Deans, Directors, community leaders and Penghulu from the Kota Samarahan area as well as UNIMAS students and staff. -UKASnews
