Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng Supports 112 Families For Hari Raya
KUCHING: Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng continues to play an important role in easing the burden of the community regardless of race and religion by distributing food contributions to 112 families in conjunction with this year's Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the initiative reflects the spirit of unity and the value of concern that is the pillar of social harmony in Sarawak.
According to her, the welfare efforts carried out by Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng not only help ease the burden of the needy, but also provide hope and moral support to families facing challenges in life.
"Through continuous welfare efforts, many individuals and families in need not only receive assistance, but also gain hope, encouragement and new self-esteem," she said when speaking at the Hari Raya Contribution Presentation Ceremony organised by Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng at the organisation's premises, on Sunday.
She added that the welfare centre has served the community for 70 years since its establishment on 16 December 1956 and continues to play a significant role in helping the elderly and underprivileged families.
Apart from managing the Home for the Elderly and providing about 100 funeral services each year, the organisation also distributes monthly food aid to more than 427 families regardless of their ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Dato Sri Fatimah also praised the centre's continued commitment to ensuring that vulnerable groups continue to have access to basic necessities, thus reducing the financial burden they face.
Meanwhile, she also congratulated Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng on its 70th anniversary, which she described as a proud achievement resulting from the dedication of previous leaders, committee members, donors and community support.
According to her, the organisation has not only become a centre for community unity, but has also emerged as a symbol of welfare and concern that continuously benefits the community.
She also expressed her appreciation for the organisation's future initiatives, including the temple and columbarium construction projects, which are expected to provide long-term benefits to the community.
In the meantime, she also expressed Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings to all Muslims and emphasised that the occasion marked the best time to strengthen family ties, friendships and instill the value of unity among the multi-ethnic community.
The event is part of Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng's ongoing efforts to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and ensure that the underprivileged are not marginalised, especially during the festive season. -UKASnews
