OIKOS Programme Unites Experts & Community To Support Wellbeing Of OKU Families
MIRI: The OIKOS Growing Together: Nurturing Families & Honouring Parents programme which gathered various experts and families of children with special needs provided a safe space enabling parents to access guidance, emotional support and practical information from specialists through a structured platform.
Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said such programmes reflect a caring and inclusive society while also helping families face the challenges of raising children with special needs.
“This effort is highly meaningful as it provides hope and direction to families facing uncertainty and challenges in raising children with special needs,” he said when speaking at the programme here on Sunday.
The Senadin Assemblyman added that such programmes reflect the characteristics of a caring and inclusive society, particularly in assisting families with children with special needs in facing life’s challenges.
He noted that although the session lasted only 15 minutes, it is capable of producing long-term impact for parents and children in need of guidance.
At the same time, Datuk Seri Lee emphasised that support for the Persons with Disabilities (OKU) community is a collective responsibility and not merely an option.
He said Miri is committed to building a society that does not marginalise anyone, whereas every individual regardless of ability is given the opportunity to live with dignity. -UKASnews
