Phased SKAS Distribution Aims To Enhance Aid Effectiveness
LAWAS: The phased implementation of the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) programme aims to maximise its effectiveness and avoid rapid spending.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, said this approach helps the public manage daily expenses in a more organised manner, thereby easing the cost of living.
He said the phased approach also allows recipients to benefit from the aid continuously.
The launch of the SKAS Programme for Bukit Sari constituency was held at Hotel Seri Malaysia Lawas on Monday, attended by community leaders, village heads, and representatives from various agencies and local communities.
The Bukit Sari Assemblyman also urged the community leaders, village heads and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to actively disseminate information about the programme to ensure all eligible recipients are reached.
He stressed that government agencies must also intensify efforts to disseminate information to guarantee the assistance reaches all intended recipients.
In the Lawas District, a total of 15,047 recipients have been identified to benefit from the programme including 6,652 households, 1,795 senior citizens and 6,600 single individuals. -UKASnews
