Youth Reminded To Avoid 3R Issues, Use Social Media Wisely
SARATOK: Young people have been reminded to exercise greater prudence when using social media and to avoid spreading sensitive issues involving religion, race and the royal institution (3R), in order to ensure that harmony within society continues to be preserved.
Krian Assemblyman, Friday Belik, said the younger generation plays an important role in shaping today’s social landscape, and therefore they must be wise in assessing every piece of information before sharing it on digital platforms.
“Young people need to be more cautious in their use of social media and not be easily influenced by sensitive issues that could undermine social unity.
“We want to ensure that the harmony we enjoy today continues to endure, and this requires the cooperation of all parties, including the younger generation, to act more responsibly in everything they do,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the Triennial General Meeting of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) N39 Krian Division, which was held at Dewan Sri Krian, Saratok, on Sunday.
Meanwhile, he also called on party members to continue strengthening unity and to maintain their support for the party leadership and the state government to ensure that the development agenda can be implemented more effectively.
The meeting also saw Friday retained as President of the PDP Krian Division, while Senator Pele Peter Tinggom was appointed as Vice-Chairman 2 (Appointed).
In addition, the PDP Youth and Women’s wings were dissolved to make way for the appointment of new leadership, with Riza Nalang appointed as Youth Chief and Anie Isek as Women’s Chief.
In a related development, he also proposed the construction of an overpass at the Saratok junction and the upgrading of the road from the Saratok junction to the town into a four-lane route to improve safety and comfort for road users.
The proposal is seen as a proactive step in addressing traffic congestion issues and reducing the risk of accidents that frequently occur in the area. -UKASnews
