Caring Leaders As The Pillar Of Wellbeing For Melayu Betong Village Residents
BETONG: Headmen of the Melayu Betong Village expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the visit by the Sarawak Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and Layar Assemblyman, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, alongside his wife, Datin Rosemarie Wong, in conjunction with the third day of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
The visit involved several homes, including those of Councillor Abdul Rahim Jaini, Headman of Kampung Baru Hilir Kamar Lugom, Headman of Kampung Baru Hulu Shamsul Anuar, former Headman of Kampung Pasa Melayu Rokiah Mahmud, and the current Headman of Kampung Pasa Melayu Jeffery Serini.
During the visit, he emphasised that the culture of mutual support between leaders and the people, as well as the practice of visiting between different races, must continue to be preserved to ensure that social harmony in Sarawak remains intact.
According to him, this practice is clearly visible when people of various ethnicities visit one another, particularly when other races visit the homes of the Malay community during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
“This tradition reflects a high spirit of unity among Sarawakians and must be continued by future generations,” he said while engaging with the families of the village headmen.
In the meantime, the village headmen also took the opportunity to express their appreciation for his continuous commitment to ensuring that the wellbeing of the residents is always protected.
Also present during this visit were the Pemancha of the Iban Community for the Betong District Norman Ngumbang, Penghulu Stanley Ejau Erin, Penghulu Sebastian Kadam Randy, and Councillor Abdul Rahim Jaini. — UKASnews
