LCDA Sapphire Run 1.0 With Community Attracts Over 800 Participants
KUCHING: The LCDA Sapphire Run 1.0 with the Community, organised in conjunction with the 45th anniversary of the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA), successfully drew over 800 participants from all walks of life, reflecting an encouraging response toward healthy lifestyle activities.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the inaugural running event featured two categories — 4.5 kilometres and 10 kilometres — with total prizes valued at RM10,000.
Beyond the competition, the run served as a platform to unite the community in a healthy, positive, and inclusive atmosphere.
“Looking at this response, it is very encouraging. InshaAllah, programmes like this will continue not only in Kuching but also in other places throughout Sarawak, including the next planned event in Sarikei this August,” he said.
He spoke to the media after officiating the flag-off for the run at Padang Merdeka here today. Datuk Len also urged more agencies to organise similar activities to encourage broader community involvement.
The programme was also attended by LCDA General Manager Datu Sr Zaidi Mahdi, North Kuching City Commission (DBKU) Mayor Dato Hilmy Othman, Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development (MUDeNR) Permanent Secretary Datu Abdullah Julaihi, Sarawak Forest Department Director Datu Hamden Mohammad, Sarawak Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Controller Datu Jack Liam, Sarawak Land and Survey Department Director Datu Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood, Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (PUSAKA) General Manager Datu Zainal Abidin Abdullah, and DBKU Director Ramzi Abdillah. — UKAS
