Racial Unity The Core Of Harmony, Avoid Provocation
PALOH: The multi-racial community in Sarawak is urged to continue maintaining unity and harmony while avoiding any form of provocation that could trigger misunderstandings or hurt feelings among the people.
Sarawak Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol said festive celebrations such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri serve as the best platform to strengthen inter-racial relations in an atmosphere of goodwill and mutual respect.
He noted that without unity, cooperation, and solid support from the people, development efforts cannot be implemented smoothly, which would ultimately affect the wellbeing of the local community.
“Currently, various development projects are actively being carried out, including the Batang Paloh Bridge Project, which will become a major land transport artery upon completion, particularly for the Pulau Bruit area,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the Semop Aidilfitri Ramah Tamah ceremony held at Kampung Sebako and Kampung Sedi here on Sunday.
The Semop Assemblyman added that the bridge project is expected to bring significant benefits to at least 13 villages, including a new settlement, RGC Semop, and a longhouse, particularly regarding socio-economic aspects.
Datuk Abdullah shared that he still remembers the advice of a former village chief from his early days as a representative, who emphasised the necessity of basic needs like water supply, roads, and telecommunications.
Commitment to the People: He noted that this advice remains a constant inspiration in his efforts to provide the best service to the residents of the DUN Semop constituency.
