Implementation of WFH Must Be Attuned According To Sector Suitability
KUCHING: The implementation of Work From Home (WFH) beginning 15 April is seen as appropriate to continue for certain sectors, particularly those involving administration and fields related to digital technology.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam said the experience during the COVID-19 crisis from 2020 to 2021 proved that this method can be effectively implemented under certain circumstances.
However, he stated that the implementation of WFH is not suitable for all sectors especially those requiring a physical presence, such as machine operation or face-to-face tasks.
“Therefore, we are forced to employ various strategies, including cost-cutting measures, and for fields deemed suitable by the government, I believe it can be continued,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters during the Lan Berambeh Ringgo Rayo Aidilfitri Urang Debak 2026 event at the Customs Academy Multipurpose Hall, here, on Sunday.
Commenting on the education sector, Datuk Mohammad Razi is of the opinion that online learning is suitable for implementation at the university level, but requires further review for the kindergarten and school levels.
He noted that while online learning at the university level poses no issue, the kindergarten and school levels may require more careful study, particularly concerning children's focus and the teaching sessions conducted by teachers across various subjects.
In this regard, the Lan Berambeh Ringgo Rayo Aidilfitri Urang Debak 2026 event was organised with the aim of further strengthening ties among the people of Debak who have migrated elsewhere.
Various original inhabitants of Saribas who have migrated to areas such as Kuching, Samarahan, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, and Lawas were also present to enliven the event, which is now in its third year.-UKASnews
