Gong Xi Raya Open House Strengthens Unity Among Dalat Community
DALAT: The Gong Xi Raya Open House 2026, held at the Dalat Welfare Complex on Sunday, reflected the strong unity among the multi-ethnic community in the district.
The event was further enlivened by the presence of the Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, who is also the Dalat Assemblywoman, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.
During the event, she took time to mingle with local residents and expressed her gratitude for the organisation of the programme, which was carried out in a harmonious atmosphere.
She said that the organisation of the Gong Xi Raya Open House symbolises the beauty of unity among people of various races, religions and cultures in Sarawak, which continues to be practised through the spirit of tolerance and mutual respect.
“This event is not merely a festive celebration; rather, it serves as an important platform to strengthen bonds and foster the spirit of unity among the community and the agencies involved,” she said in her speech.
She also emphasised that the cooperation shown by all organising agencies reflects a strong sense of togetherness, despite each having their own commitments and responsibilities.
Earlier, Dato Sri Fatimah presented certificates of appreciation to each agency and party involved in preparing the booths, with a total of 17 booths participating, in recognition of their commitment and creativity in enlivening the celebration.
Also present were Dalat District Officer Mathew Hubert, Temenggong Hendi Suhai, Pemanca Peter Lai Sakul, Penghulu Sim Tan Chuan, and Sinong Pelita Plantation Managing Director, Dato’ Tan Chew Chin. -UKASnews
