MATU: Efforts to bridge the digital education gap in rural areas continue to be strengthened with the handover of 26 smartboards to schools under the Daro District Education Office (PPD) to enhance 21st century learning.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Igan Member of Parliament Ahmad Johnie Zawawi at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Matu on Monday, with about 300 educators and students present.
The Phase 1 initiative involving 85-inch Lumina smartboards reflects continued efforts to expand access to education technology, especially in rural areas to ensure they are not left behind in digitalisation.
According to him, the transformation of education has become an urgent necessity in line with global technological advancements, thereby requiring teachers and students to move beyond conventional methods towards more effective digital approaches.
“The shift from blackboards to smartboards must be supported by the readiness of all parties to utilise this technology optimally,” he said.
He said the facility enhances the effectiveness of teaching and learning while making sessions more interactive and engaging for students.
He said he hopes the initiative will serve as a catalyst for innovative learning and help bridge the education gap between urban and rural areas, particularly in Igan.
The programme, organised by the Daro PPD is a strategic step in ensuring that an inclusive, progressive and competitive education ecosystem can be realised. -UKASnews
