Ulu Teru Road Project Boosts Rural Accessibility, Completion Expected In 24 Months
ULU TERU: Efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure networks are being further intensified through the implementation of the Ulu Teru–Tinjar road paving project, which is expected to bring significant improvements to the well-being of local communities.
The RM45.2 million project reflects the Sarawak Government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring inclusive and balanced development between urban centres and rural interiors.
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, said the project will directly benefit 31 longhouses while improving residents’ access to essential facilities such as schools and clinics.
“This project will benefit 31 longhouses and facilitate easier access to schools and clinics in this area,” he said at a press conference after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the project in Tinjar on Sunday.
According to him, the 23.4-kilometre project is scheduled for completion within 24 months and is expected to serve as a catalyst for enhanced mobility and socio-economic activities among rural residents.
At the same time, he urged the contractor to ensure that the project is implemented smoothly and adheres to the stipulated timeline.
He also emphasised that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) remains the key driver of the state’s development, particularly in providing quality basic infrastructure to improve the standard of living for people in rural areas.
Also present were Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government as well as Marudi Assemblyman, Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak as well as Sadong Jaya Assemblyman, Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo, Director of the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR), Cassidy Morris, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development, Chiew Chee Yau, and Miri Division Resident, Galong Luang. -UKASnews
