STEM Catalysts Programme In Mukah Draws Participation From 10 Schools
MUKAH: A total of 10 primary and secondary schools from across the Mukah District took part in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Catalysts Programme, held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Mukah on Monday.
Tellian Assemblyman, Royston Valentine, said Mukah was chosen as the inaugural venue for the programme, underscoring the strong commitment of various stakeholders to strengthening STEM education among students.
According to him, this reflects a collective determination to nurture a generation that is ready to face the future, driven by knowledge, innovation and technology.
“One day, Sarawak will stand proudly as a leader in technology and innovation, and I hope that many of our students will be at the forefront in leading that change.
“You are not only students today, but also future scientists, engineers and leaders of Sarawak. Therefore, continue to dream big, remain curious and never stop learning,” he said after attending the programme.
Touching on the initiative, Royston explained that it was designed to educate and inspire the younger generation by demonstrating how STEM is applied in real-life contexts.
He noted that it goes beyond textbooks, encompassing what people see, use and rely on daily, from technology and innovation to problem-solving and new creations.
In this regard, he expressed his delight in seeing participants visiting exhibition booths, watching demonstrations, asking questions and displaying a strong sense of curiosity.
“They enjoy trying something new, and that is a very encouraging development,” he added. -UKASnews
