Sarawak Drives Towards A Mature Development Phase Heading Into 2030
KUCHING: Sarawak is now entering a critical phase to leapfrog towards a more mature stage of development by 2030, with the next five years serving as the primary driver for this transformation.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, stated that this period will serve as a vital platform for Sarawak to transition from basic development toward more comprehensive advancement.
“In the next five years, Sarawak aims to continue its growth and reach a stage of maturity by 2030,” he said.
He said this during his speech at the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Convention held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Sunday.
The convention was officiated by Sarawak Premier and GPS Chairman, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) President added that the infrastructure development agenda will continue to be strengthened, particularly in addressing the basic issues that still affect segments of the population.
“Historically, challenges such as water supply and road facilities have persisted and must be improved. Over the next five years, efforts will be sustained to ensure these needs are met more comprehensively,” he explained.
At the same time, he emphasised that Sarawak’s development focus will be expanded beyond infrastructure alone, with an emphasis on more inclusive and sustainable progress. -UKASnews
