Sarawak Premier To Officiate SKS Miri 2026 Programme This Saturday, Around 20,000 Visitors Expected
MIRI: The Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) 2026 Programme continues to strengthen its role as a platform to bring the government closer to the people through the Miri Division edition scheduled to take place from 24 to 26 April at the Miri Stadium.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Openg will officiate the opening this Saturday, 25 April.
Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said that organising of this edition is not just as a roadshow, but rather a strategic arena to strengthen policy delivery and ensure that the people understand government initiatives more comprehensively at the grassroots level.
According to him, the programme approach is improved from time to time with the strong support of government agencies to ensure a more effective impact on the people.
"What is important is that the people understand and are aware of what the government is doing so that the relationship between the government and the people continues to be strengthened and policy information can be delivered more effectively," he said.
He said this at a press conference after chairing the Miri Division SKS Programme 2026 coordination meeting at the Miri Division Resident's Office on Monday.
Also present were Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) Datu Felicia Tan, Miri Division Resident Galong Luang and heads of relevant departments.
This edition of SKS Miri is expected to be more vibrant with a target attendance of 20,000 visitors, an increase from 16,000 in Limbang previously which reflects the encouraging response to the programme.
Apart from the interactive content, visitors also have the opportunity to win various attractive prizes through e-contests including the main prize of a Proton Saga car.
To ensure smooth crowd movement, shuttle bus facilities are provided throughout the three-day programme, while the public, including those from nearby areas such as Brunei, are encouraged to attend and enliven the event.
Among the main attractions is Miri Kitchen which features a variety of local dishes, opening up space for entrepreneurs to promote their products and generate income.
In a related development, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar also inspected the site of the proposed dredging project in the Batang Baram Delta, Kuala Baram, which is described as a high-impact initiative in strengthening Miri's economic and maritime development. -UKASnews
