Sarawak Secures Three Gold Medals In Special Olympics Malaysia Games 2026 To Date
BINTULU: The Sarawak contingent recorded a proud achievement by clinching three gold medals so far in the aquatics events held in conjunction with the Special Olympics Malaysia 6th National Games Sarawak 2026, which took place at the Bintulu BDA Public Swimming Pool on Saturday.
In addition to the three golds, Sarawak also added three silver and four bronze medals, positioning the state team as one of the primary contenders in this prestigious inclusive sporting championship.
A major highlight was the success of Branson Sim Jian Hung, who secured a gold medal in the Men’s 100-metre Freestyle (Final 2) and also won a silver medal in the 50-metre Butterfly.
Another Sarawakian athlete, Aaron Ling Thai Yun, contributed a gold medal in the 50-metre Butterfly (Final 2), further strengthening the state team’s standing.
Meanwhile, the Kedah team leads the aquatics medal tally with four golds and three silvers, followed by Sarawak with three golds, three silvers, and four bronzes, while the Federal Territory of Labuan has secured two golds, two silvers, and one bronze.
Beyond aquatics, the excitement of the championship continues to be felt across Bintulu, with several other sporting events taking place simultaneously, including basketball, bowling, bocce, table tennis, badminton, and football.-UKASnews
