SKS Miri Attracts More Than 20,000 Visitors, Demonstrating Strong Public Response To the Government’s Outreach Programme
MIRI: The Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) Programme 2026 for the Miri Division achieved encouraging success, recording a total of 23,959 visitors throughout its three-day programme, thereby demonstrating the effectiveness of the government’s outreach approach in engaging with the rakyat.
Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat stated that the unexpected turnout reflects the highly positive response from the local community towards the implementation of the programme.
He said the programme in the Miri Division involved the participation of 43 agencies with 147 services, making it one of the most comprehensive government service delivery platforms for the people.
Over the three-day programme from Friday to Sunday, various activities were successfully carried out including agency exhibitions, health activities, entrepreneurship programmes, knowledge-sharing sessions and awareness programmes such as cybercrime.
He stated that the programme not only provides direct access for the community to engage with government agencies but also strengthens bilateral relations between the government and the people at the grassroots level.
He said this in his closing speech at the SKS 2026 Miri Division programme on Sunday.
He further stated that the entrepreneurial initiative under Sarawak Kitchen achieved total sales of RM337,227 within three days, thereby generating a positive impact on the income of local entrepreneurs.
He added that the programme’s success was made possible through strong collaboration between the state government, implementing agencies, the private sector and the local community.
He further recorded his appreciation to the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg for his continued commitment in ensuring that high-impact programmes such as SKS are implemented for the benefit and well being of the people.
He also expressed appreciation to all parties including the organising committee, government agencies, volunteers and media partners who worked hard to ensure the programme’s success.
The closing ceremony also featured the presentation of E-Peraduan prizes and lucky draw sessions, officiated by Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) Felicia Tan Ya Hua and Miri Division Resident Galong Luang.
