Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Pays Courtesy Call On Pahang MB, Bolstering Bilateral Ties
KUANTAN: Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan paid a courtesy call on Menteri Besar of Pahang Dato’ Sri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail here on Wednesday, in an effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Sarawak and Pahang.
Accompanying him during the visit were Adviser to the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais and MINTRED Permanent Secretary Datu Lester Matthew.
Also present during the meeting were Pahang State Executive Council Member Dato’ Mohamad Nizar Mohamad Najib and Pahang State Secretary Dato’ Sri Nazri Abu Bakar.
During the discussion, both parties touched on various matters of mutual interest including efforts to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two states.
Among the key matters discussed was the potential to establish improved and efficient logistics services between Pahang and Sarawak, particularly direct flights to facilitate the movement of tourists, entrepreneurs and investors.
In addition, cooperation between ports in Pahang and Sarawak was seen as having the potential to enhance trade, particularly in the halal industry and cruise tourism activities.
Collaboration in the creative industry, particularly songket, will also continue to be strengthened due to its high cultural value and strong commercial potential for wider markets.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah said Sarawak remains open to expanding strategic cooperation with other states for mutual benefit, particularly in trade, tourism, investment and the development of small and medium enterprises.
He also expressed appreciation to the Pahang State Government for its warm hospitality and commitment to strengthening the close ties long established between the two states.
For the record, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah is leading the Sarawak Government delegation here in conjunction with the Showcase Usahawan Sarawak 2026 held at Kuantan City Mall, a programme aimed at promoting products and the potential of Sarawak entrepreneurs to the Peninsular Malaysia market. -UKASnews
