RM1.25 Billion In IRSDA Projects Approved, 512 Completed To Drive Samarahan Development
KUCHING: A total of RM1.254 billion or 83.61 per cent of the overall RM1.5 billion allocation has been approved as of the first quarter of 2026 for the implementation of projects under the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA), reflecting significant progress in development implementation in the Samarahan Division.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) who is also Chairman of the IRSDA Steering Committee Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said out of 637 planned projects, 512 projects or 80.38 per cent have been completed.
“In addition, 32 projects (5.02 per cent) are still under implementation while 87 projects (13.66 per cent) are at the planning stage and six projects (0.94 per cent) have been cancelled due to certain factors including overlapping alignments,” he said.
He said this when chairing the IRSDA Steering Committee Meeting No. 1/2026, held here on Wednesday.
Dato Sri Abdul Karim said another RM236.13 million, or 15.74 per cent, involves projects still in the planning stage, while the remaining RM9.78 million, or 0.65 per cent, constitutes IRSDA Pool Savings.
He emphasised the importance of periodic monitoring and proactive measures by implementing agencies to ensure projects still in the planning stage are expedited for the benefit of the people.
“Effective coordination is crucial to ensure every planned project can be implemented smoothly and deliver maximum impact on development and community wellbeing,” he noted.
The Asajaya Assemblyman also encouraged more completed project handover programmes to be carried out by elected representatives in their respective constituencies as an effort to showcase the government’s development achievements to the people.
At the same meeting, a handover session was also held for the IRSDA Bulletin 2025 and the IRSDA Project List and Localities Book to all elected representatives in Samarahan Division.
The IRSDA Project List and Localities Book records all 637 development projects implemented since the establishment of IRSDA, involving the three parliamentary constituencies of Kota Samarahan, Batang Sadong and Batang Lupar.
Also present were Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo, Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee, Batang Lupar Member of Parliament Mohamad Shafizan Kepli, Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris, Samarahan Division Resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang and IRSDA Special Administrative Officer Anuar Da’an. -UKASnews
