50 Per Cent Rental Discount Eases Hawkers’ Operating Costs
LIMBANG: Hawkers at Tamu Limbang have welcomed the Sarawak State Government’s initiative to help ease their daily financial commitments through a 50 per cent discount on stall rentals.
One trader, Rafiah Abdul Ghani, 54, said the assistance is highly meaningful for her and fellow traders.
“As a trader at Tamu Limbang, I am truly grateful for the assistance provided by the state government, namely the 50 per cent reduction in the rental of our trading sites,” she said when met by reporters on Thursday.
Meanwhile, an elderly hawker, Bangkol Bardi, 79, also expressed his appreciation for the state leadership’s concern in supporting small-scale traders.
“Hawkers in Limbang, especially at the tamu market, are very pleased with the assistance from our Premier, Abang Jo. All of us here would like to convey our heartfelt thanks to the state government,” he said.
For Siti Hawa Radin, 66, the assistance helps, to some extent, in easing their daily expenses.
“Thank you, Abang Jo. With this assistance, we are at least able to manage our spending,” she said briefly.
The Sarawak Government had earlier announced a 50 per cent discount on rentals for markets and stalls under local authorities, as well as business premises owned by state statutory bodies.
The initiative involves an allocation of RM8.1 million and is expected to benefit many small traders across the state. -UKASnews
