Mother’s Day A Platform To Appreciate The Sacrifices & Love Of Mothers
KUCHING: Mother’s Day celebrations are not merely annual events, but rather serve as an important medium to reinforce appreciation for the sacrifices and love of mothers within the family institution.
Minister for Women, Family and Community Development, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, said the public should take the opportunity during Mother’s Day celebrations to show respect and affection to those known as mothers.
According to her, although love for one's mother is expressed every day, Mother’s Day celebrations provide a special value in appreciating their services and sacrifices.
“To the children, take this opportunity to make Mother’s Day a special day to show respect and love to our mothers.
“Even though we do love our mothers every day, we use Mother’s Day as a special day to celebrate them,” she said.
She told reporters this when met while attending the third Sarawak Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council Meeting at the PBB Headquarters, Jalan Bako on Saturday.
Dato Sri Nancy also called upon husbands to appreciate their wives who have sacrificed and played the role of mothers to their children.
In the meantime, she announced that this year's National Mother’s Day Celebration, themed “Seteguh Kasih Ibu” (The Strength of a Mother’s Love), will be held on 10 May at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn and will be officiated by the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.
She added that all states will also hold their respective celebrations, including Sarawak, which is scheduled to take place on 14 May.-UKASnews
