19 Sarawak Para Athletes Receive Incentives For ASEAN Para Games 2025 Success
KUCHING: A total of 19 Sarawak para athletes received victory incentives amounting to RM140,200 following their outstanding achievements at the ASEAN Para Games Korat Thailand 2025 held in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Wife of the Sarawak Governor Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi together with Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah presented the incentives during the ‘Touching Hearts, Shaping Minds’ Appreciation Ceremony at a leading hotel here on Wednesday.
Among the highest incentive recipients was para swimmer Rusdianto Rusmadi who brought home two gold, four silver and two bronze medals, earning a total incentive of RM22,000.
Meanwhile, another national para swimmer Muhd Nur Syaiful Zulkafli received RM18,000 after winning one gold, four silver and three bronze medals.
Para table tennis athlete Gloria Gracia Wong Sze received RM13,000 after winning two gold and one bronze medal, while para tenpin bowling athlete Abang Yahya Abang Azhar received RM12,500 after securing two gold medals.
In addition, athletes who received RM10,000 each after winning one gold medal were Norshazwani Maisara Marzuki, Bibiana Ahmad, Colorine Sijang, Nicodemus Manggoi Moses and Bonnie Bunyau Gustin.
Also receiving incentives were Marcos Chang Hao Hong with RM7,000 after winning one gold and one silver medal, as well as Wong Kee Soon who received RM5,000 for winning one gold medal.
Meanwhile, Mohd Adib Iqbal Abdullah received RM3,000 after earning one silver and one bronze medal, while Angeline Melissa Lawas received RM2,500 for winning one silver and one bronze medal.
Other athletes who also received incentives were Siti Zubaidah Puini and Bryan Junency Gustin, who each received RM2,000 after winning one silver medal.
In addition, Wiro Julin, Tomson Lim Kok Hong and Catalina Sunti David Diok each received RM1,000 in recognition of their achievements.
Also listed was wheelchair basketball representative Freday Tan who received RM200 after helping the team secure a bronze medal.
In her speech, Dato Sri Fatimah said Sarawak athletes had successfully won 38 medals comprising 13 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals, while overall the Malaysian contingent brought home 201 medals consisting of 64 gold, 64 silver and 73 bronze medals.
“All these achievements are the result of the athletes’ hard work, high discipline and extraordinary fighting spirit, as well as the remarkable guidance and training provided by their coaches,” she said.
Also present were Deputy Ministers for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam and Datuk Rosey Yunus, as well as Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) and Deputy Chairman of the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua. -UKASnews
