Sarawak Water Contributes RM325,000 Business Zakat To Baitulmal Sarawak
KUCHING: Sarawak Water has further strengthened its commitment to corporate social responsibility by contributing RM325,000 in business zakat to Baitulmal Sarawak.
Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said the business zakat payment marked the first contribution made by Sarawak Water to Baitulmal Sarawak.
According to him, the contribution reflects the company’s commitment to carrying out its corporate responsibilities in a sustainable and inclusive manner while sharing its blessings with those in need.
“This is the first time Sarawak Water has contributed zakat to Baitulmal Sarawak, witnessed earlier by the Premier of Sarawak.
“The handover of this business zakat not only fulfils the company’s obligation, but also reflects Sarawak Water’s concern in giving back to society and supporting the socio-economic development of Sarawak,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after the handover ceremony, which was witnessed by the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex on Friday.
He added that Sarawak Water will continue strengthening its role as a responsible and ethical organisation that prioritises the wellbeing of the people in line with the aspirations of the Sarawak Government.
The zakat contribution also reflects the company’s commitment not only in ensuring the delivery of quality water supply services to the people, but also in playing an active role in supporting the broader agenda of social development and community wellbeing.
