Sarawak Government Allocates Over RM376 Million In Utility Assistance To Reduce Rakyat's Burden
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government’s concern for the welfare of the people continues to be demonstrated through the implementation of utility assistance worth over RM376 million this year, involving electricity bill discounts and water supply subsidies across the state.
Sarawak Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said this initiative is implemented as an ongoing measure by the state government to help the people cope with the current rising cost of living.
“The Sarawak Government has provided a 25 per cent discount on electricity bills from April until December this year, totalling RM188.1 million, which benefits 715,000 consumers statewide.
“We are also still continuing the RM5 discount to all consumers for the first 11,300 litres of water supply, and this remains ongoing, with its total almost mirroring the electricity amount earlier at RM188.75 million,” he said.
He said this during a press conference after his ministerial winding-up session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Monday.
Dato Sri Julaihi added that this measure proves the Sarawak Government's concern for the welfare of the people in the state.
Also present at the press conference were Deputy Ministers for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang and Datuk Ibrahim Baki. -UKASnews
