Five Alternative Routes To Help Reduce Traffic Congestion In Kota Samarahan
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government continues to strengthen the road infrastructure network in Kota Samarahan through the creation of five alternative routes to help smoothen traffic flow and reduce congestion, particularly around Taman Samarindah.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan explained that these alternative routes were established through the approval of land development in Taman Samarindah, Taman Samarax, Taman Merbau and Taman Meranti.
According to him, the routes connect the areas to the Kuching Outer Ring Road (KORR) and Jalan Datuk Mohammad Musa, thereby improving traffic accessibility in and out of the areas.
“Furthermore, the development in Taman Samarindah is based on the comprehensive future land-use planning as well as the road network for the area,” he said.
He said this during his ministerial winding-up session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Wednesday.
He added that several other major infrastructure projects are also being implemented to reinforce the connectivity in the area, including the upgrading project of Jalan Datuk Mohammad Musa and the construction of Jalan Samarahan–Bukit Berangan which has now been fully completed.
At the same time, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah informed that the construction of the Sejingkat Bridge, which is currently under implementation, is expected to serve as a new alternative route connecting Samarahan to Demak Laut.
He also explained that the construction of the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) Blue Line route from Rembus to Hikmah Exchange is among the government's long-term plans to comprehensively address traffic congestion issues in Samarahan.
“These initiatives are part of the government's long-term approach to tackling traffic congestion issues in Samarahan, in line with the rapid development of the area,” he said. -UKASnews
