Sarawak Premier Inspects Dual Carriageway Project & Jelutong SPK In Conjunction With Bintulu SKS
BINTULU: The Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, visited two major development projects in Bintulu during the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) Programme at the Bintulu Division level on Saturday.
The visit covered the Dual Carriageway Road Construction Project from Kemena Bridge to Bintulu Airport, as well as the Jelutong Special Settlement Scheme (SPK) in Jepak.
The visit began at the site of the Dual Carriageway Road Construction Project from Kemena Bridge to Bintulu Airport, which involves the construction of a four-lane road stretching 4.1 kilometres, connecting Jepak Roundabout to Bintulu Airport Roundabout.
The project also includes the construction of two P-turn lanes, a 95-metre bridge, a connecting road from Bintulu Airport to the town centre, as well as upgrading works at the Bintulu Airport Roundabout.
The implementation of this project is expected to shorten travel time from Bintulu town to Bintulu Airport, as well as routes towards Tatau and Sibu, while also providing an alternative route to reduce traffic congestion.
Based on the current schedule, the project is expected to be fully completed in October 2027.
The Sarawak Premier then proceeded to visit the Jelutong Special Settlement Scheme (SPK) in Jepak, implemented through the Sarawak Government's initiative via the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), aimed at providing planned, comfortable, and affordable housing for the people.
The project involves the construction of 111 housing units, comprising 97 units under Stage 1 and 14 units under Stage 2, with the entire project now fully completed.
The Jelutong SPK not only provides quality housing for residents, but is also equipped with basic amenities including roads, sewerage systems, electricity, and water supply to ensure the well-being of the local community.
Also present were Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, and other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
