PTTEP, BHSB Ink Contract To Develop Sirung Field Production Platform
KUCHING: PTTEP Sarawak Oil Limited and Brooke Holding Sdn Bhd (BHSB) have signed a contract for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the Sirung Production Platform at a leading hotel here on Tuesday.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, with the contract exchange carried out by Sarawak Financial Secretary and BHSB Chairman Dato Sri Wan Lizozman Wan Omar and PTTEP Sarawak Oil Limited Malaysia Asset Country Manager Vitoon Chaisomboonpan.
The contract was awarded to BHSB on Feb 5 this year and is expected to be completed by February 2028.
The Sirung Field Development is a hydrocarbon field development project located about 140 kilometres from the Malaysia Liquefied Natural Gas (MLNG) complex in Bintulu and will support oil and gas production operations in Offshore Block SK405B.
The project involves approximately 8,500 metric tonnes of topside components and substructures, making it the largest topside and substructure scope ever undertaken by BHSB in the oil and gas industry.
The scope of works includes engineering, procurement and construction of the production platform, including brownfield hose hook-up works.
Under the project implementation, BHSB will utilise its fabrication yard in Demak Laut for the jacket structure, while its main yard in Sejingkat will be used for topside construction.
Further reinforcing confidence in the contract award, BHSB had previously completed the F6-VLAP project for Sarawak Shell in 2025, as well as the Salbiah Wellhead Platform project for Dialog Group and PETRONAS Carigali in March 2026.
Both projects recorded significant operational achievements, particularly in terms of safety and quality throughout implementation.
Beyond the energy sector, the company also successfully delivered the Brooke Dockyard Industrial Maritime Museum project, recognised as the first project of its kind in Malaysia involving the conservation of a historic steel structure.
Brooke Holding also completed the 1.55-kilometre Batang Saribas Bridge project for the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR).
Also present at the ceremony were Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, and Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, along with other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
