International Big Bike Festival Strengthens Brotherhood Among Borneo Community
KUCHING: The 24th Borneo Island International Big Bike Festival (BIIBBF) continues to serve as an important platform in strengthening the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity among the high-powered motorcycle community across the Borneo region.
Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) director Ramzi Abdillah said the festival was not merely a gathering of big bike enthusiasts, but also reflected the strong bond and sense of togetherness among participants from Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei, Labuan and Kalimantan, Indonesia.
According to him, the spirit of unity showcased through the festival was especially significant amid the increasingly challenging global environment.
“What can be seen is the very strong bond of brotherhood among the biker community from across Borneo.
“Although the world is facing various conflicts and uncertainties, communities on the island of Borneo continue to demonstrate a high level of solidarity and unity,” he said when officiating at the festival.
He said this during his speech at the gala dinner held at the Waterfront here on Saturday.
The event was further enlivened with the screening of the 24th BIIBBF 2026 montage, the symbolic handover of the BIIBBF 2027 flag to LA Riders Club Labuan president Dato Mohd Rafi Alli Hassan, as well as the presentation of mementoes to five main Borneo clubs representing Brunei, Sarawak, Indonesia, Labuan and Sabah.
The festival’s consistent organisation over the past 24 years also reflects Sarawak’s capability as a host of international-standard events while contributing to the growth of the state’s tourism and motorsports industries.
The presence of participants and visitors from various countries was seen as having a positive impact on Sarawak’s hospitality, food and transportation sectors, while also helping to promote the state as a unique and safe tourism destination.
Meanwhile, all participants were reminded to always prioritise road safety by adhering to traffic regulations and maintaining the positive image of the high-powered motorcycle community.
The festival was also seen as more than just a platform for gathering big bike enthusiasts, but one that carries messages of brotherhood, discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle that should be instilled among the younger generation.
Also present were Sabah Big Bikers Association (SBBA) president Datuk Osman Ahmed, LA Riders Club Federal Territory of Labuan president Dato Mohd Rafi Alli Hassan, Persatuan Motosikal Darussalam (PEMODA) Brunei Darussalam president Pengiran Redzuan Pengiran Ahmad, Borneo Island Big Bikers (BIBB) Sarawak president Ramlee Tuah and Ikatan Motor Besar Indonesia (IMBI) Kalimantan president Jailani Abang Zainuddin. -UKASnews
