Gawai A Symbol Of Unity & Appreciation For Community Success
PADAWAN: The celebration of Hari Gawai is not merely an annual festival for the Dayak community, but also serves as a symbol of appreciation for the efforts, success, and unity of the community in building a better and harmonious life in Sarawak.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Transport (Aviation and Road) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the spirit of Gawai reflects the values of gratitude, togetherness, and harmony, which have been the foundation of the Dayak community's strength for generations.
“Gawai is not just a celebration, but a symbol of appreciation for the efforts, success, and unity of the community where the concept of Gawai is to celebrate success in life, whether within families, careers, education, or the community, while reinforcing the identity and self-worth of the Dayak people,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Padawan Sub-District Gawai Dinner Event here on Saturday.
In the meantime, Datuk Dr Jerip also emphasised the importance of a cooperative spirit and unity as the foundation for Sarawak's continuous development, in line with the aspirations of the state government.
At the same event, the Mambong Assemblyman also presented Hari Gawai contributions to 12 recipients from less fortunate groups as part of efforts to ease their burden in making preparations for the festive celebration.
