684 NCR Land Titles Handed Over To 517 Recipients In Mambong
PADAWAN: The Sarawak Government continues to strengthen its commitment to protecting Native Customary Rights (NCR) land ownership through the presentation of 684 land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code to 517 recipients in the Mambong constituency on Tuesday.
The recipients comprised residents from three villages, namely Kampung Giit, Kampung Nyiru Grait and Kampung Emperoh Garung, with the majority belonging to the Bidayuh community.
The handover ceremony for the Section 6 Native Communal Reserve Gazette and Section 18 land titles under the Sarawak Land Code was officiated by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan at Barei Persatuan Biperoh, Padawan.
According to him, the Sarawak Government remains committed to ensuring that the people’s NCR land is recognised and protected through the NCR Land Survey Programme introduced in 2010.
He said the programme is implemented in two stages, namely perimeter surveying and gazettement under Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code, followed by individual lot surveying and the issuance of land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code.
“The government will issue land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code, which are exempted from land tax and premium payments, with permanent tenure.
“This is the government’s commitment and promise. All these efforts are for the benefit of the people,” he said.
He also revealed that as of April 30, 2026, the Sarawak Land and Survey Department had successfully surveyed the perimeter of more than 1.23 million hectares of NCR land throughout Sarawak, with 966,440 hectares gazetted as Native Communal Reserves.
In addition, a total of 110,815 individual lots involving 132,414 hectares have been successfully surveyed, while 37,168 land titles have been issued under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code.
At the same time, he called on the people to continue giving their full cooperation to the Sarawak Land and Survey Department to ensure the NCR land surveying process can be carried out smoothly for the benefit of future generations. -UKASnews
