KUCHING: More than 2,000 job opportunities will be offered at the Sarawak Education and Career Fair (SCatFaiR) 2026, which will take place on June 6 and 7 at Hikmah Exchange, Kuching.
The programme, organised by the Sarawak Multimedia Authority’s Strategic Trust Fund (TEGAS), will bring together more than 130 exhibitors comprising educational institutions, government agencies and industry players in a strategic platform for talent and career development.
TEGAS Chief Executive Officer Udin Bujang said SCatFaiR is the largest education, training and career platform in Sarawak, providing opportunities for youths, graduates and students to gain direct exposure to current education pathways and job opportunities.
According to him, this year’s focus will be on high-potential sectors such as oil and gas, technical industries, digital services, manufacturing, construction, as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
“The main objective of SCatFaiR is to help youths, graduates and students gain direct exposure to TVET and STEM education pathways as well as job opportunities relevant to current industry needs,” he said during the Juh Randau programme produced by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) at the UKAS Studio, Baitulmakmur Building on Tuesday.
He added that SCatFaiR also plays an important role in supporting the Sarawak Government’s efforts to develop human capital and improve the employability of the local workforce by 2030.
“Today’s job market is very dynamic and requires individuals who are flexible, skilled and constantly ready to learn new things,” he said.
Meanwhile, TEGAS Community Innovative Learning (TCIL) Senior Manager Fredick Kevin Buseli said preparations for the event are progressing smoothly despite the programme coinciding with the Gawai Dayak celebration week.
He said various engaging activities have been lined up throughout the two-day event, including education exhibitions, career fairs and open interview sessions.
Among the key highlights are the Oil & Gas Zone by PETROS, STEM Playground, Sarawak Minecraft Championship, Sarawak Rocketeer Challenge, TVET Masters Challenge and the Planetarium Sultan Iskandar Dome.
In addition, local artistes such as Mawat, Alex Wan and Phoebe Chloe are expected to enliven the event.
“SCatFaiR is a comprehensive platform that brings together education, training, talent development and job opportunities in one place, essentially serving as a one-stop centre,” he said.
He added that around 50 industry companies have confirmed participation so far, offering more than 2,000 job opportunities to visitors.
Among the participating educational institutions are Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Swinburne University, Curtin University and University of Technology Sarawak (UTS).
Members of the public wishing to attend are encouraged to pre-register via a QR code provided on TEGAS’ official social media platforms before June 5 to facilitate entry and reduce congestion during the event. -UKASnews
