Sarawak Premier Graces MIS Aidiladha Thanksgiving Ceremony 1447H/2026M
KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg graced the Aidiladha Thanksgiving Ceremony organised by the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) for the year 1447H/2026M, which took place at the Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak on Wednesday.
The ceremony began with him reciting the intention for the sacrificial ritual before witnessing the slaughtering session of two sacrificial animals.
This year, a total of eight sacrificial cattle were contributed, with three from MIS and five from the Sarawak Government Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK).
Subsequently, he also performed the symbolic skinning of the sacrificial meat before presenting the distributed meat to 30 recipients consisting of the asna) and new converts around Kuching Division.
Earlier, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari, along with other dignitaries, performed the Aidiladha Sunat prayers, which were attended by over 3,000 Muslims around Kuching.
The prayers were led by the Deputy Grand Imam of Sarawak, Mohammad Ihsan Haidzir, while the Aidiladha khutbah sermon was delivered by the Mufti of Sarawak, Datu Khalidi Ibrahim.
Also present were the Sarawak Premier's daughter Dayang Norjihan Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, President of MIS Datuk Misnu Taha, and other dignitaries. — UKASnews
