3,000 Visitors Enliven Datuk Francis Harden’s Gawai Dayak Open House
SRI AMAN: More than 3,000 people enlivened the Gawai Dayak Open House 2026 hosted by Simanggang Assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis and his family at their residence in Jalan Tini, Munggu Sabun on Monday.
The event was also graced by the presence of Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian and Sarawak Minister for Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin alongside local community leaders.
In addition to mingling with the dignitaries and residents in attendance, Datuk Francis, who is also the Sarawak Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation checks to 20 clubs and associations within the Simanggang constituency.
The allocation, totaling RM143,000, was channeled to help finance various activities and programs planned by the involved clubs and associations throughout this year.
Meanwhile, Datuk Amar Dr Sim praised the initiative of Datuk Francis and his family for continuously opening the doors of their residence to people of various races and backgrounds to jointly celebrate the Gawai Dayak festival.
"The message highlighted through the public's response to this program is seen as very encouraging and serves as the right platform to strengthen the unity of the multi-ethnic population in efforts to build a nation-state based on Sarawak's capabilities.
"Therefore, I hope that this kind of prosperity will continue to be maintained, allowing all the people to remain focused together on successfully realizing the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030)," he said. — UKASnews
