Appointment Of New Community Leaders Strengthens Community Administration In Simanggang
SIMANGGANG: The proposed appointment of three community leaders for the Malay community in the Simanggang constituency is expected to further strengthen the administration and leadership system at the grassroots level.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development and Simanggang Assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis stated that the proposal involves the appointment of one Pemanca and two Penghulu to represent the Malay community in the area.
According to him, this step is crucial to ensuring that local community affairs can be coordinated more effectively, besides strengthening the relationship between the people and the government.
“For your information, the Simanggang constituency currently only has 11 village leaders for the Malay community from Kampung Muhibbah, Rancangan Perumahan Rakyat (RPR), Taman Harmoni, Taman Sri Jaya, and Taman Desa Indah.
“However, due to the absence of a Pemanca and Penghulu for the Malay community in Simanggang, I have already applied for the appointment of these community leaders, which is expected to be approved soon,” he said.
He said this during the 67th Anniversary Celebration of SUPP Simanggang Branch and the Flag Raising Ceremony here on Thursday.
In other developments, he informed that the SUPP Simanggang Branch currently has 4,700 members and aims to increase this to 5,000 members by the end of this year.
“I hope that existing members can help introduce the party and recruit new members to further intensify the struggle to improve the lives of the people from time to time,” he said.
At the same ceremony, Datuk Francis Harden also presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation checks totaling RM89,000 to 28 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) and women's bureaus within the Simanggang constituency.
Earlier, the event was officiated by Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian. — UKASnews
