KCFC’s Success On The Asian Stage Reflects Effective Management, Strengthening Sarawak’s Football Ecosystem
KUCHING: Kuching City FC’s (KCFC) success in qualifying for an Asian-level club competition is described as an extraordinary achievement that proves the effectiveness of the team's management and the positive development of Sarawak's football landscape.
Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah saod the achievement is highly commendable considering the team took only about a decade to emerge as one of the country's best clubs and subsequently break onto the Asian stage.
According to him, the success of a team does not solely depend on funding injections but instead requires efficient management and a clear direction.
“We are very grateful to see the performance of Kuching City FC. In a short period, they managed to advance to the FA Cup final and subsequently qualify for the Asian club competition.
“It is a massive achievement and also reflects good management,” he said during a press conference in Kuching on Friday.
Therefore, Dato Sri Abdul Karim said the ministry along with the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) will continue to focus on grassroots football development by implementing its own state-level league according to age categories across Sarawak.
This step, he explained, aims to create a sustainable football ecosystem to produce more talented players as well as open doors for the emergence of more clubs from various divisions in the state.
He added that Sarawakians see KCFC not merely as a representative of Kuching City, but as a team carrying the name and aspirations of the entire state of Sarawak on the national and international stages. — UKASnews
