BETONG: Efforts to strengthen healthcare service access in rural areas continue to be empowered through the proposed construction of an additional block and upgrading works at the Mid Layar Spak Health Clinic (KK), which is expected to bring significant benefits to the local residents.
A site visit and project coordination meeting were held on Monday involving various technical agencies to ensure that the project planning proceeds smoothly and meets current healthcare service needs.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and Layar Assemblyman Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu emphasised the importance of the project in improving the quality of healthcare service delivery to the rural community.
According to him, the project will not only provide more comfortable facilities but will also expand the treatment and service capacity at the clinic.
“The implementation of this project will have a positive impact on the people's well-being by providing more conducive and comprehensive healthcare facilities,” he said during the visit.
He also urged all involved parties to continue strengthening cooperation and commitment to ensure that the project can be executed smoothly and according to the set schedule.
During the briefing session and coordination meeting, the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) alongside the Sarawak State Health Department, consultants, and contractors discussed technical aspects and implementation issues to finalise the project design.
The development plan encompasses the construction of a two-storey additional block that will house the Emergency Unit, Radiology Unit, Dental Health Unit, Occupational Health Clinic, and Administrative Office.
In addition, a one-storey additional block has also been proposed to house the Medical Laboratory Unit as well as medicine stock storage space for the Pharmacy Unit.
The project is funded under the allocation of the Layar Assemblyman and channelled through the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), while JKR Sarawak serves as the implementing agency.
Also present during the visit were Sarawak Health Department Officer Amirul Azwan Ainie, JKR Sarawak Officer Muhammad Haziq Jinaidi, Betong Divisional Health Officer Dr Jesica Jenah Ramping, as well as KK Mid Layar Spak Family Medicine Specialist Dr Shaun Paul Wayn. - UKASnews
