STIU Receives Two Malaysia Book Of Records Recognitions, Strengthens Public Service Transformation
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government's continuous commitment to strengthening modern governance and cultivating high performance within the public sector continues to bear fruit as the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU) under the Premier's Department has received two prestigious recognitions from the Malaysia Book Of Records (MBR).
The recognitions involve the categories of “First Public Service Agency to Implement A Sustainable Transformation and Innovation Framework” through the development of the SCS-NEXT sustainability framework, and “The First Integrated Public Sector Excellence Certification Ecosystem By A State Government in Malaysia” which recognises the development of the state's integrated public sector certification ecosystem.
The certificate presentation ceremony saw STIU Director Superi Awang Said receive the awards from the MBR representative, which were then handed over to the Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation) Datu Hii Chang Kee at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Tuesday.
In the meantime, Datu Hii emphasised that the achievement should not be viewed merely as a symbol of recognition, but must instead be translated into continuous practice in public service delivery.
“Let us not just seek awards only to forget about them afterwards and return to the old ways we used to practice,” he said.
He also explained that the development of the sustainability framework through SCS-NEXT is a strategic step to ensure every transformation and innovation initiative is implemented in a sustainable and consistent manner.
“This divides the setting of the sustainability framework for all innovation and transformation projects across the Sarawak region,” he added.
Commenting further, he stated that the Sarawak Government is currently placing a comprehensive emphasis on sustainability aspects encompassing various sectors, including energy and natural resources, in line with the state's civil service transformation agenda.
Meanwhile, the second recognition for the development of the integrated certification ecosystem is viewed as a strategic approach to strengthening evidence-based performance evaluation systems, while boosting public confidence in the capabilities of the civil service.
The implementation of both initiatives is expected to bring a significant impact towards efforts to reduce red tape and increase the efficiency of a government service delivery that is more responsive and outcome-oriented.
In addition, the milestone is also seen as a recognition for the entirety of the Sarawak Civil Service. - UKASnews
