MBKS Warns Against Unauthorised Sale Or Transfer Of Kuching Festival Food Fair Stalls
KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has warned against the unauthorised sale or transfer of stalls allocated for the Kuching Festival Food Fair.
In a statement issued today, the council said it viewed the matter seriously and reminded all successful applicants that, under the terms and conditions of the stall application, they are strictly prohibited from subletting, renting out, transferring, selling, assigning or sharing their allocated stall with any third party under any circumstances.
“MBKS has been made aware of an advertisement circulating on social media offering for sale a stall allocated under the Kuching Festival Food Fair 2026.
“The allocation of stalls for the Kuching Festival Food Fair is conducted through an established application and selection process to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all applicants.
“Any attempt to sell, transfer, or otherwise profit from an allocated stall is a direct violation of the conditions agreed upon by the successful applicant,” it said.
In addition, the council said all successful stall operators are required to conduct business every night throughout the festival period, with failure to operate for a cumulative period of three nights may result in enforcement action, including the forfeiture of the deposit for the respective stall category.
“MBKS will not tolerate any breach of these conditions. Any applicant found to have violated the terms and conditions may have their stall allocation immediately revoked, forfeit their deposit, and be blacklisted from future applications, including participation in future editions of the Kuching Festival Food Fair,” it added.
The council also reminded members of the public not to purchase, negotiate for, or enter into any arrangement involving the sale, transfer, or takeover of any allocated stall.
It explained that such transactions are unauthorised, invalid and will not be recognised under any circumstances.
Applicants and members of the public are further urged to respect all decisions made by the council and to comply fully with the established procedures and conditions governing participation in the festival.
“These requirements are enforced to maintain transparency, accountability, fairness and equal opportunities for all participants.
"MBKS will continue to monitor the situation closely and reserves the right to take appropriate action against any individual found to be involved in activities that contravene the terms and conditions of the stall allocation,” it said. -UKASnews
