Batu Kawa Expected To Have Large-Scale Shopping Centre By 2030
KUCHING: The Batu Kawa area is expected to have a large-scale shopping centre by 2030 as part of a development plan that will continue to strengthen its position as one of the main growth areas in the Kuching Division.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian said the plan is among the strategic initiatives to make Batu Kawa a developed and prosperous area with modern facilities and more structured development.
According to him, the development of the large-scale commercial centre will complement the existing development ecosystem as well as increase the economic value and attractiveness of the area.
“If we plan well and get the support of all parties, Batu Kawa can have a large shopping centre like Vivacity by 2030,” he said.
He said this during the Batu Kawa Zone Community Leaders and Tuai Rumah Open House held at the Ang Cheng Ho Quarry Multipurpose Hall, on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Batu Kawa Assemblyman added that the success of realising the plan requires stability, unity and the people's continued support for the development agenda implemented by the government.
Datuk Amar Dr Sim added that the rapid development of Batu Kawa over the past few years, including the increase in property values and the growth of commercial areas, reflects the area is on the right track to develop as a modern city.
According to him, the planned development will not only benefit local residents, but also have the potential to attract more investments and create new economic opportunities in the future.
