RADDA Intensifies Rural Infrastructure Development Through New Road Project
SARIKEI: The Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) continues to intensify efforts to strengthen the rural infrastructure network through the implementation of several strategic road projects that will greatly benefit the residents of the Sarikei area.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said that one of the main projects being planned is the construction of a seven kilometre-long road connecting Kerubong to Sare at a cost of RM56 million.
According to him, the high-impact project is now at the design stage before being tendered either this year or next year for implementation.
"When completed, the residents will enjoy an easier and smoother journey to Sare and Sarikei without having to take a longer route," he said when speaking at the ‘Pengerami Ngiling Bidai’ programme at the Sare Community Hall, on Sunday.
In addition, he said RADDA is also planning the construction of a road leading to Bukit Kinyau involving a distance of about four kilometres at a cost of RM30 million.
He said the project will complement the existing road network in the area thus opening up more development opportunities and facilities for rural residents.
In the meantime, the Kuala Rajang Assemblyman shared that the construction of a new road to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sentebu was also prioritised to meet the needs of the local community.
According to Datuk Len, the nearly one kilometre long project will connect the area near the hospital with the school, thus providing a safer and more comfortable route for students, teachers and residents.
He said the allocation that was originally proposed for the construction of the school hall was channeled to the road project as it presented a more urgent necessity and provided greater benefits to the community.
He added that the implementation of projects under RADDA reflects the ongoing commitment of the Sarawak Government in ensuring that rural development continues to be strengthened through the provision of better quality infrastructure for the well-being of the people. -UKASnews
