Sarawak's Economic Prosperity Enjoyed By The People Through Various Government Initiatives
SARIKEI: The economic progress that Sarawak has achieved today continues to be translated into various initiatives that directly benefit the people through welfare assistance, education, housing and infrastructure development throughout the state.
Tanjong Manis Member of Parliament Dato Ir Yusuf Abdul Wahab said that the state government's success in generating revenue from various strategic sectors allows for more programmes and assistance to be implemented to improve the well-being of the people.
He said that under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, state revenue is returned to the people through various inclusive policies and initiatives.
"The government not only focuses on the economic development of the state, but also ensures that the benefits are also felt by the people through various assistance and facilities provided.
"From the birth of a child to the level of education, welfare and housing, everything is made a focus by the government," he said.
He said this while speaking at the ‘Pengerami Ngiling Bidai’ programme in Sare, on Sunday.
Dato Ir Yusuf added that the education sector continues to be one of the main agendas of the state government with various aid and incentives introduced to help Sarawakian children continue their studies to a higher level.
In addition, he said, various other forms of aid were also provided including the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS), Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) as well as housing financing facilities to help the people own their own homes.
According to him, the revenue obtained from petroleum, energy, carbon and other economic resources are also used to finance the implementation of development projects throughout Sarawak.
In the meantime, Dato Ir Yusuf said that various projects such as the construction of roads, bridges, upgrading of village roads and restoration of longhouses were implemented to improve connectivity and facilitate the daily lives of the people.
He added that development carried out continuously not only improves the standard of living of the community, but also opens up more economic opportunities, especially for residents in rural areas. -UKASnews
