Sarawak & Brunei Intensify Senior Citizen Development Cooperation
KUCHING: Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam continue to intensify cooperation in senior citizen development through the sharing of best practices as well as proposals to establish formal cooperation between institutions for senior citizens in both regions.
Sarawak Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said that the long-standing close relationship between Sarawak and Brunei must continue to be strengthened through strategic cooperation to ensure improvement in the quality of service delivery to senior citizens.
"We welcome visits such as this because it strengthens ties and allows both parties to share experiences and best practices for the well-being of senior citizens," she said.
She said this when met by the media after receiving a courtesy visit from the delegation of the Brunei Muara District Senior Citizen Activity Center (PKWE) at the Baitul Makmur II Building, on Tuesday.
Dato Sri Fatimah added that the visit opened up space for both parties to exchange experiences regarding the management of senior citizens' centres, the implementation of community programmes as well as approaches implemented to improve the welfare of the target group.
Meanwhile, Brunei Muara PKWE Manager Mohd Yussof Mohd Salleh said that the results of the discussions held opened up space for PAWE Sri Satok and Brunei Muara PKWE to establish more organised collaboration in the future.
He explained that among the proposals discussed was to enter into official cooperation involving the implementation of joint programmes, including sports activities and the exchange of experience between the two institutions. -UKASnews
