Young Generation Must Equip Themselves With Knowledge, Future Skills
JULAU: Sarawak's younger generation is urged to equip themselves with relevant knowledge and skills to face the changing economic landscape, thereby ensuring they are able to compete in the global job market.
Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said proficiency in science, mathematics and English must be prioritised, as these three fields form the foundation for future technological and industrial development.
He said Sarawak is currently moving towards innovation-based economic development, including the hydrogen sector, digital economy, and science and technology, which require a highly skilled workforce.
"Don't limit your dreams of success to just Sarawak or Malaysia. Seize opportunities wherever they may be, gain as much experience as possible, and when the time comes, bring that expertise home to develop this state," he said.
He said this to reporters after making a special visit to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Nanga Meluan, here, on Saturday.
Dato Sri Roland Sagah also urged students not to be afraid of studying mathematics, science and English, as proficiency in these fields opens up wide career opportunities in fields such as engineering, technology and science.
He said the free education initiative introduced by the Sarawak Government also places emphasis on fields of study with high demand, including engineering, technical fields, medicine, law, finance and accounting, in order to produce quality human capital capable of meeting the state's development needs.
At the same time, he said, the field of psychology also needs attention, given that mental health issues are increasingly becoming a challenge in modern life and require more specialists in the field. -UKASnews
