SADONG JAYA: A total of RM885,500 has been allocated by the government in the education sector, infrastructure and community facilities in the Batang Sadong Parliamentary constituency.

Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee said that the distribution of the allocation reflects a continued commitment to ensure that development is carried out comprehensively based on the needs of the people in the Simunjan, Sadong Jaya and Gedong areas.

She said this when completing the Cheque Handover and Project Completion Programme for the Batang Sadong Parliamentary constituency involving several locations around Simunjan and Sadong Jaya, on Wednesday.

The programme saw the handing over of four infrastructure projects that had been completed involving a total allocation of RM420,000, in addition to the handing over of cheques to recipients for community and education projects.

Among the projects submitted is the upgrade of the covered open space at the Sadong Jaya Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PAWE) worth RM120,000 through the allocation of the Sarawak Development Office (SDO).

According to Rodiyah, the facility will provide a more comfortable space for senior citizens to carry out various social activities without being dependent on weather.

Also handed over were three projects under the Sarawak Government's Rural Transformation Project (RTP) and People-Friendly Project (PMR), namely the construction of a guard house and student waiting space at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Gunong Ngeli worth RM100,000, work to upgrade Kampung Selangking square (RM150,000) and the construction of a car park in Kampung Sungai Buluh (RM50,000).

In addition to physical development, eight Outright Grant (OG) checks amounting to RM180,500 were also handed over to representatives of mosques, suraus and churches to implement minor projects in their respective areas.

In the same ceremony, a total of 37 school Parents-Teachers Association (PIBG) in Simunjan, Sadong Jaya and Gedong received a total allocation of RM285,000 to support the implementation of educational, sports and student welfare activities.

Additionally, six secondary schools each received RM15,000, while 31 primary schools received a distribution based on the total student population to ensure equitable distribution.
