Jom Heboh Kota Samarahan Serves As Platform To Bring Government Services Closer To Rakyat
KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak Segulai Sejalai 2026 Karnival Jom Heboh (KJH), held for the first time in Kota Samarahan, serves as an effective platform to bring the public closer to various government services, while also enliven community and family activities.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that hosting such a carnival not only provides space for the community to enjoy entertainment, but also enhances public understanding of the functions and roles of various government agencies.
“I see that the objective of programmes like Jom Heboh is to bring joy to the people, while also providing information about various government agencies. Through such programmes, the public can learn about the roles of government agencies while having the opportunity to enjoy entertainment,” he explained.
He said this during a press conference after conducting a walkabout visit to the Karnival Jom Heboh fairground adjacent to Kota Samarahan Municipal Council on Friday.
He also described the choice of Kota Samarahan as the venue for this edition as highly fitting, given that the area is an education hub housing two public universities alongside several other educational institutions, thereby possessing the potential to attract more visitors.
According to him, response on the first day was very encouraging, with attendance from residents of Kota Samarahan and surrounding areas.
He expects visitor numbers to continue rising throughout the weekend through various programmes, including performances by local artists and popular artists from Peninsular Malaysia.
The Sarawak Segulai Sejalai 2026 Karnival Jom Heboh is taking place for three days from 31 July to 2 August through a strategic collaboration between Media Prima and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP).
This edition features a variety of activities, including exhibitions by government agencies, Jualan Rahmah, free health screenings, the Jom Heboh Fun Run, and the Jom Heboh Concert as the highlight event.
