SARIKEI: A total of 163 civil servants from 17 government departments and agencies received the Sarikei Division Loyal Service Medal in recognition of their dedication and service in the state civil service.

The medals were presented by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, at a ceremony held in Sarikei today.

Leading the list of recipients was Sarikei Division Deputy Resident, Shafrie Saili, who has served for 28 years.

Of the total recipients, 11 departments and agencies are under the state government, while the remaining six are federal government departments and agencies.

Among the recipients were 14 from the Sarikei Division Resident's Office, 13 from the Sarawak Forest Department, four from the Sarawak Public Works Department, 18 from the Sarawak Land and Survey Department, 10 from the Sarawak Agriculture Department and 15 from the Sarikei District Council.

In addition, one recipient each was from the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department, while two recipients each were from the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department, the Sarawak Syariah Judiciary Department, the Immigration Department of Malaysia Sarawak and the National Registration Department Sarawak, who also received the medal.

Meanwhile, 12 recipients were from the Sarawak Natural Resources and Environment Board, three from the Sarawak Rivers Board, seven from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department Sarawak, six from the Sarawak State Information Department, 24 from the Sarawak State Health Department and 28 from the Sarawak State Education Department.

At the same event, three civil servants were also given recognition for their 37 years of service record, namely Philip Sanjan from the Sarawak Agriculture Department, Abdul Latip Onsen from the National Registration Department Sarawak and Dacy Christopher Ugot from the Sarawak State Education Department.

Also present were the Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Ministers, Sarikei Division Resident, Datu Micheal Ronnie Langgong, and Heads of Departments. -UKASnews
