301 Malaysian Armed Forces, Police Veterans Receive Sarawak Warrior Service Medal
KUCHING: A total of 301 veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) received the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Sarawak (PJPS – Sarawak Warrior Service Medal) in recognition of their service and sacrifice in defending the nation's peace and security.
The Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, graced the presentation ceremony at a leading hotel here on Thursday.
The presentation marked the Sarawak Government's appreciation for veterans who had devoted their service throughout their careers, particularly in ensuring that peace, sovereignty and the wellbeing of the people continue to be safeguarded.
On the occasion, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi expressed appreciation to all veterans for their spirit of patriotism, loyalty and sacrifice for the interests of the people and the nation.
He also stressed that the peace and prosperity enjoyed by Sarawak today are inseparable from the service and courage of security forces personnel who carried out their duties with full commitment.
Among the recipients leading the list of award recipients were Dato Idris Buang, General Tan Sri Dato Sri Affendy Buang (Rtd), Tan Sri Dato Sri Mohd Jamil Johari and Dato Mohd Chee Abdul Kadir.
Also receiving the PJPS were Datuk Abang Abdul Wahab Julai, Datuk Awang Bujang Awang Antek, Datuk Gingkoi Seman Pancras, Datuk Khir Busrah, Fazillah Dato Sri Alli Kawi, who received the award on behalf of the late Dato Sri Alli Kawi, Dato Nyomek Nyeap, Datu Chai Khin Chung, Datin Maznah Jantan, who received the award on behalf of the late Datuk Mohd Johnny Mustapha, Dato Clarence Rorote Sagon and Dato Mohamad Morshidi m Mustapha.
Other recipients included Dato Sulaiman Abdul Razak, Dato Benjamin Hasbie, Dato Alladin Kassim, Brigadier General Dato Muhammad Daniel @ Damien Abdullah (Rtd) and Dato S. Sathiya Seelan.
Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah also expressed hope that the PJPS presentation will continue to stand as a symbol of the Sarawak Government's respect for veterans who have served the nation, as well as serve as an example for the new generation to uphold the values of patriotism, loyalty and responsibility to the country.
Also present were Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah and First Division Commander Major General Mohd Sobirin Mohd Yusuf. -UKASnews
