Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Receives Sarawak Service Medal Of Honour
KUCHING: The Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, received the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Sarawak (PJPS) in a special ceremony held at Astana Negeri Sarawak on Thursday.
The award was presented by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, witnessed by Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, as well as Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
Also present to accompany the Sarawak Governor was his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The conferment was a recognition by the Sarawak Government of the services and sacrifices of Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) veterans in safeguarding the peace, sovereignty and wellbeing of the nation.
Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi previously joined the PDRM in 1964 and served in the Police Field Force from 1968 to 1973.
During his service, he was assigned to the Rajang Area Security Command (RASCOM), which was then a key operational zone during the Emergency period in Sarawak in efforts to combat the communist threat. -UKASnews
